Into the Blue
“It’s a strong statement,” says hairstylist Shinya Nakagawa
in what may be the biggest understatement we’ve heard
in a while. Nakagawa used delphinium flowers to cover
the model’s hair, deliberately settling on both deep
and pale blue blooms. To experiment at home, put
flowers where they’re not expected—instead of placing
them in a bun or behind your ear, he says, try them
“along your hairline, close to your face, or in your part.”

Leaf It Be
“I love the idea of using leaves
as a hair accessory,” says
Nakagawa. After all, “leaves
and flowers were the original
accessories.” And the soft
and pliable asparagus plumosa
fern is just what we imagine
Eve was using to adorn her
hair in Eden. To keep the stem
from sliding, anchor it with
crisscrossed bobby pins, or
simply brush and tease the
hair until it has enough texture
to keep the stems in place.
