The Masked Singer

BEHIND THE SCENES OF

CONTESTANTS FOLLOW

CIA-LEVEL PROTOCOL

Actress Adrienne Bailon,
a.k.a. Flamingo from season
two, reveals that she was
first taken to a “secret
warehouse” to talk about her
character with producers.
From there, any time she
came to the set to rehearse
or film, she wasn’t allowed
to speak and had to wear
her designated “Don’t
Talk to Me!” sweatshirt to
ensure that no one would
figure out her identity.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE COSTUMES

Costume designer Marina Toybina
and her team work to strike a
balance between art and practicality,
always factoring in the weight of
materials and potential airway or
overheating issues.

ONLY ABOUT 20 PEOPLE KNOW THE

CHARACTERS’ IDENTITIES EACH SEASON

To keep each famous face a secret, security guards
place audience members’ phones in sealed magnetic
pouches, and when it’s time for the big reveal, most
of the crowd has to leave. Only a select small group
gets to stay to see who is behind the mask.

GH readers have spoken, and Fox’s The Masked Singer is officially
your favorite competition show. (Yes, it beat out American Idol in our
online poll!) In this smash hit that’s part singing competition and part
guessing game, a group of celebrities face off in head-to-toe costumes,
with one contestant being eliminated (and “unmasked”) each week.
GH news & entertainment editor Kayla Keegan, who flew to L.A. for
a show taping, reveals its secretive inner workings.
