ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE

SUSPENDED MONDAY AND TUESDAY FOR

CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS

Drivers, don’t start your engines unless

you’re an essential worker, or it’s an emer-

gency, or you need to get your car in-

spected. New York has extended most

deadlines drivers have to worry about in

New York as we all try to slow the spread of

COVID-19.

What’s still the same in New York? Car

inspection regulations because that is a

safety issue (auto shops are open), and all

parking rules except for alternate side

parking. The ASP suspension is scheduled

to be lifted Wednesday. But follow me on

sion is extended.

What’s different?

• In New York City, there will be no
  additional penalties added between March
  2 2 and April 19 to parking and camera
  violations that are not in judgement by a
  court.


• The Dept. of Motor Vehicles closed its
  offices and has extended the deadline on
  licenses, registrations, and non-driver IDs
  with an expiration date of March 1, 2020
  until further notice. The Traffic Violations
  Bureau has adjourned all moving violations
  through April 17.


• When DMV offices reopen, they prob-
  ably won’t get the crowds that had been
  showing up for Real ID licenses, which
  require in-person applications. A federal
  deadline has been extended a year, and
  regular driver licenses will be accepted as

ID on domestic flights until October of 2021.

• City buses are still running and they are
  free. Please enter from the back doors.
  Please stay off the roads if you’re not
  doing what New York State and City con-
  sider to be essential work — we all must do
  our part to slow the spread of coronavirus.

  The experiment to close four streets to
  traffic continues 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday
  and Monday on Park Ave. from 28th to 34th
  streets, Bushwick Ave. between Johnson
  and Flushing avenues, 34th Ave. between
  7 3rd and 80th streets, and Grand Concourse
  between East Burnside Ave. and 184th St.

  Iusually park my truck on First Ave. in
  Sunset Park, but I saw signs posted up and
  down the street saying there’s No Parking
  anytime between March 18-April 15. They
  were gone last Tuesday. Why were they
  there?

  Police put them up for a possible emer-
  gency drive-through street for coronavirus
  testing. But, according to my sources other
  more suitable locations were selected,
  hence removal of the signs.
