Showers and thunderstorms:A slow-moving storm will continue to affect Southern California for the start of
the week. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected. Some of these storms could be heavy enough
to cause flooding or small hail. Snow is expected above 4,000 feet through Tuesday, with several inches of
accumulation expected. The heaviest snow is expected above 6,000 feet.
Southwest unsettled:Widespread showers and thunderstorms will hit
portions of California and Nevada. Spotty showers will stretch from
Virginia into North Carolina and also from Idaho into Montana and
Wyoming. It will be warm across the Southeast.

With the Galaxy and
LAFC idled by the co-
ronavirus outbreak, both
Major League Soccer teams
have begun reaching out to
the community to ease the
burden of those affected by
the COVID-19 pandemic.
This week, the Galaxy
and Chancho’s Tacos will
send the team-branded food
truck to schools and hospi-
tals around the Southland
to deliver free meals to medi-
cal workers and volunteers.
The taco truck will make
its first stop Monday, from
11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Glendale
Memorial Hospital. It will
visit the Northridge Hospi-
tal on Wednesday and two
middle schools in Carson —
Curtiss and Stephen M.
White — on Thursday and
Friday.
Last month, the Galaxy
and their supporters do-
nated more than 300 pounds
of canned food to the L.A.
Regional Food Bank.
LAFC donated a pallet of
fruits and vegetables to the
Union Rescue Mission and
has raised more than $5,
for charity through an es-
ports gaming series. The
team also has partnered
with Bodyarmor, Clif Bar
and Old Spice to hand out
sports drinks, nutrition
bars, gels and personal-hy-
giene kits to staff and pa-
tients at Kaiser Perma-
nente, the Red Cross and six
other groups working with
at-risk communities.

Hall of Famer
Mitchell dies
Bobby Mitchell, a speedy
halfback and flanker during
the late 1950s and 1960s who
became the Washington
Redskins’ first black player
on the way to a Hall of Fame
career, died. He was 84.
The Hot Springs, Ark.,
native split his career with
the Cleveland Browns and
Redskins and was inducted
into the Pro Football Hall of
Fame in 1983. The Hall of
Fame said Mitchell’s family
said he died Sunday after-
noon but didn’t provide any
other details.
When Mitchell joined the
Redskins in 1962, they be-
came the last NFL team to
integrate. After playing his
first four seasons in Cleve-
land, he spent seven more
with Washington. Mitchell
became a Redskins scout
and later served as assistant
general manager.

the New York Yankees

way Park in Boston, he made
baseball history, and he
didn’t have to hit, catch or
throw the ball.
Blomberg was the Ameri-
can League’s first desig-
nated hitter and in that first
at-bat he drew a bases-
loaded walk against Luis
Tiant. For the game, he had
a hit and an RBI in three at-
bats. Orlando Cepeda was
the DH for Boston and al-
though the Red Sox won
15-5, Cepeda drew a blank,

In games involving local
teams that were canceled
because of the COVID-
pandemic, the Clippers were
scheduled to play the Chi-
cago Bulls at Staples Center
on Monday. The Bulls had
won on Dec. 14 in Chicago,

In baseball, the Dodgers
