Women’sT20 World Cup final on8March. They

played in Melbourne, Australia, in front of 86,000fans.

In the match the hosts won yet another T20 title.

Australia have dominated theWomen’sT20 World Cup

sinceitwas first held in 2009. It is now staged every two

years and they have won itarecordfive times, in 2010,

2012, 2014, 2018 and 2020.

T20 is the shortest type of professional cricket. Each side

has 20“overs” to scoreasmany runs as possible. In an over,

the same bowler bowls the ball six times at the batting team.

The person batting tries to hit the ball, and if it goes over the

boundary (the edge of the playing area)without

touching the ground they scoresix runs.Four runs are

scored if the ball touches the ground beforereaching

the boundary.One, two or three runs arescored

when the person batting hits the ball but it doesn’t

reach the boundary,sot he two batting players on

the pitch run between the stumps as many times

as theycanbeforethe ball is thrown back by the

other team.

In the final, Australia scored 184 runs in their

batting time. India only managed 99 runs, meaning

Australia won byacomfortable 85 runs.
