Future Nostalgia
Dua Lipa
The inauspicious circumstances surrounding
the release of the English singer’s second
studio album – the all-engulfing coronavirus
pandemic – haven’t prevented it being one
of the most acclaimed albums of 2020 so far,
with particular praise for its cohesive old-
school-but-new-school dance sound.
FIVE FACTS:
- Dua Lipa was born on August 22, 1985 in
Westminster, London, England. - She released her debut, self-titled album
in 2017, producing eight singles including
the hits “Be the One”, “Hotter than Hell”, “Blow
Your Mind (Mwah)”, “IDGAF” and “New Rules”. - Future Nostalgia was originally set to be
released in early April, only for this date
to be brought forward after the album
leaked online. - NME’s Rhian Daly hailed the album as
“a bright, bold collection of pop majesty to
dance away your anxieties to... if only for a
little while.” - Lipa has said of her task of balancing old
with new sounds on the album: “It’s a fine
line, so I wanted to bring something that was
reminiscent of my childhood and at the same
time make it really current.”
