FIVE FACTS:
- Sonic the Hedgehog is an action-adventure
comedy movie based on the Sega videogame
franchise of the same name. - While work on a film adaptation of the
Sonic videogames began in 1993, it took
another two decades for the movie to
progress beyond the planning stage. - The film was directed by Jeff Fowler, in his
feature directorial debut. - Other members of the cast include Tiki
Sumpter as Tom’s wife Maddie, and Natasha
Rothwell as Maddie’s sister, Rachel. - The initial humanlike design of Sonic
for the movie, as featured in the first
trailer, was modified to more closely
resemble the videogame character after
widespread criticism.
