“HE’S AN HONOURABLE

WARRIOR, AND JOINS

THE PARTY AFTER

THEY FREE HIM.”

T

his fierce, wolf-like
creature was
experimented on by
Professor Hojo, but don’t
think that makes him a
monster. He’s an honourable warrior,
and after the party help to free him,
he joins them as they have the
mutual desire to escape. He mainly
wants to return to his home far
outside of Midgar, but will have
plenty of shared adventures with the
rest of the team along the way.

In terms of gameplay the dev
team had a bit of a
predicament with Red XIII, as
he joins the party very late on
in Midgar in the PS1 game,
which means he meets up
with them way towards the
end of FFVII Remake.
Because of that, this

time around he doesn’t join the group
as a fully-fledged party member.
Instead, he fights alongside them as a
guest character, still using plenty of
the moves you’ll remember from the
original. It’s a little unclear if this
means you’ll never be able to issue
him commands when he fights, or if
he’ll just have more limited commands
than the other members. But either
way it looks like we’ll have to wait
before we can play as our favourite
JRPG wolf-hero.

Will we be able to command
Red XIII this time, or will he
be a free, wild beast?
