THE CORNERS OF OUR HOMES THAT MEAN THE MOST.
THIS MONTH: THE CALM OF THE BATHROOM

Words: LOTTIE STOREY

“Every time I walk
into my bathroom it
makes me smile. It feels
like a grown-up space with its
dramatic black tiles, but the bright
wallpaper from Divine Savages adds a
real contrast and an element of fun.
It’s the wallpaper that makes the room
special to me. I’d had my eye on it for
ages and, after my husband vetoed it
for our bedroom, the bathroom was a
good compromise.
I love the contrast of the dramatic
black tiles against the bright
wallpaper, while the gold fixtures and
fittings make it feel really special. The
vintage chandelier was actually a real
bargain, but it adds an individual and
luxurious touch to the small space.
I also love the bathroom mirror as it
brings a touch of elegance. In truth
it was a lucky find – a real bargain
I found in a local auction house. The
bathroom itself is a really small space,
but it’s got a big personality.
Our home is a really draughty and
cold Victorian house and the
bathroom is the warmest place. You’ll
often find our two cats in there,
huddled under the radiator (you get
used to having an audience while you
use the loo!).
