Adobe Photoshop CS5 One-on-One

(やまだぃちぅ) #1

  1. Edit one of the Germ smart objects. To make all the germs
look less cuddly, we’ll need to access the original embedded
contents of our linked Germ layers. Double-click the thumb-
nail for any one of the three Germ layers. Photo shop greets
you with the alert message shown in Figure 7-19.

  2. Confirm the warning. Photoshop lets you modify a pixel-based
smart object by opening a temporary file that’s extracted from
the layered composition. Saving this file updates the composi-
tion. Why the warning? Because if you save the temporary file
to a new location or under a different name, the entire process
will fall apart. Now that you know, turn on the Don’t Show
Again check box and click OK. The germ appears in a new
    window, as in Figure 7-20.

  1. Liquify the germ. In this window, all the limitations of smart
objects drop away, permitting us to manipulate the germ just like
any other layer. So we might as well push some pixels around.
Choose Filter→Liquify or press Ctrl+Shift+X (-Shift-X on the
Mac) to bring up the massive Liquify dialog box. Along the
left side of the dialog box, you’ll see a set of tools you can use
to push the pixels of this microbe around.
