Adobe Photoshop CS5 One-on-One

(やまだぃちぅ) #1

  1. Add a gradient map adjustment layer. Turn off the Colorize
adjustment layer by clicking its. Then choose Layer→New
Adjustment Layer→Gradient Map. Name your new layer “Blue
and Browns” and click OK. A gradient map takes a range of
colors (the gradient) and maps them to the lightness and dark-
ness values in your image. In the Adjustments panel, click the
to the right of the gradient preview, and choose the gradient
that starts with sky blue on the right and moves through light
brown, as shown in Figure 7-47. Click OK, and you have a fu-
turistic map for your imaginary isles.
Choose File→Save to save your changes. It’s a 12MB file, hardly
larger than the 11MB required to express a 2000-by-2000-pixel
image. Put the file in a safe place. You may find yourself needing
it, and many more of the variations it might supply, in the future.
