Seljuks,Ayyubids,Mamluks,Ottomans,Safavids,andMughals)hadim-
portantfeudalelements.Moreover,itisamistaketoviewmili-
taryslavesas
politicalagents;over/ndover,theywererecruitedprimarilyassoldiers.
