dispensing with these rules and ordinances, or any part thereof, by a notification under Royal
Sign Manual;
AND WHEREAS by a Warrant under Our Sign Manual dated the 9th day of May 1938,
We did ordain that Officers, Non Commissioned Officers and Men of Our Burma Army and
other Military Forces in Burma should be considered eligible for the award of the Decoration;
AND WHEREAS by a Warrant under Our Sign Manual dated the 14th day of September,
1938, We did deem it expedient to introduce into Our Regular Army a new class of Warrant
Officer;
AND WHEREAS We deem it expedient that the said Warrant dated the 5th day of February,
1931, should be amended to provide for the award of the Decoration to all classes of Warrant
Officers;
NOW THEREFORE WE do by these presents for Us, Our Heirs and Successors ordain and
appoint that the Sixth Clause, sub-paragraphs (3) and (4) shall be altered by the deletion of
the words ‘Classes I and II’, and that the said alterations shall have effect from the 14th day
of September, 1938.
Given at Our Court of St. James’s, this 21st day of August, in the 3rd year of Our Reign,
and in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirty nine.

XIII AMENDING WARRANT: INDIAN AIR FORCE, 25
JANUARY 1941
GEORGE THE SIXTH by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions
beyond the Seas, King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India; to all to whom these Presents
shall come, Greeting!
WHEREAS His late Majesty King George V, by a Warrant under His Royal Sign Manual
dated the 5th February 1931, was pleased to make, ordain and establish rules and ordinances
for the governance of the Decoration of the Victoria Cross reserving to Himself, His Heirs
and Successors full power of annulling, altering, abrogating, augmenting, interpreting or
dispensing with these rules and ordinances, or any part thereof, by a notification under Royal
Sign Manual;
AND WHEREAS by a Warrant under Our Royal Sign Manual dated the 9th day of May
1938, We did ordain that Officers, Non Commissioned Officers and Men of Our Burma
Army and other Military Forces in Burma should be considered eligible for the award of the
Decoration;
AND WHEREAS by a Warrant under Our Sign Manual dated the 14th day of September,
1938, We did deem it expedient to introduce into Our Regular Army a new class of Warrant
Officer;
AND WHEREAS by a Warrant under Our Sign Manual dated 21st August, 1939, We did
ordain that all classes of Warrant Officers shall be eligible for the Decoration;
AND WHEREAS we are desirous that Officers, Warrant Officers, Non Commissioned
Officers and Airmen of Our Indian Air Force shall be eligible for the award of the Decoration;
NOW THEREFORE We do by these Presents for Us, Our Heirs and Successors ordain and
appoint that the Sixth Clause, sub paragraph (4) of the Warrant dated 5th February, 1931,
