NOW THEREFORE WE do by these Presents for Us, Our Heirs and Successors ordain and
appoint that the Sixth Clause of the said Warrant, as amended by Our Warrants dated 9th
May, 1938, 21st August, 1939 and 25th January, 1941, the Eighth Clause as ordained in Our
Warrant dated 25th January, 1941, shall becancelled and annulledand the followingsubstituted
therefore:-
Sixthly:It is ordained that the persons eligible for the Decoration offollowing substituted
therefore:-
(1) Persons of any rank in the Naval, Military and Air Forces of Our United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland, of India, of Burma, of Our Colonies and of territories under
Our suzerainty, protection or jurisdiction or under Our jurisdiction jointly with another
power, or belonging to any other part of our Dominions, Our Government whereof
has signified its desire that awards of the Cross shall be made under the provisions of
this Our Warrant, or belonging to any Territory under Our protection administered
by Us in such Government, including the Home Guard and any lawfully constituted
force corresponding thereto, and, in India, members of the Frontier Corps and Military
Police, and members of the Indian States’ Forces, and, in Burma, members of the Burma
Frontier Force and Military Police, and including also members of the Naval, Military
and Air Force Nursing Services and of the Women’s Auxiliary Services;
(2) Members of Our Merchant Navy;
(3) Our faithful subjects and persons under Our protection in civil life, male and female,
serving regularly or temporarily under the orders, directions or supervision of any of
the above- mentioned Forces or Services;
Eighthly:It is ordained that every recommendation for the award of the Decoration of the
Cross shall be made or reported through the usual channel to the Senior Naval, Military or
Air Force Officer Commanding the Force, who shall call for such description, conclusive
proof as far as the circumstances of the case will allow, and attestation of the act as he may
think requisite, and if he approve he shall recommend the grant of the Decoration to Our
Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, Our Secretary of State for War or Our Secretary of
State for Air as the case may be, or, in the case of any of Our Dominions, the Government
whereof shall so desire, the appropriate Minister of State for the said Dominion, who shall
submit to Us the names of every one so recommended whom they shall consider worthy;
Eleventhly:In the case of Our Indian and Burma Forces, a recipient of the Cross or bar,
within the limits of rank to be laid down, and, on the death of such recipient, his widow,
shall be entitled to receive under regulations to be issued by Our Governor-General of India
and Our Governor of Burma such special pension or additional pension as may be provided
out of the revenues of India or the revenues of Burma, as the case may be.
AND WE do ordain and appoint that the Ninth Clause of the Warrant dated 5th February,
1931, shall be amended by the relettering of sub-paragraph ‘(f)’as ‘(g)’ and by the insertion
of the following sub-paragraph:-
Reference in this Clause to male members of Our Forces shall be deemed to include the
equivalent ranks of Our Women’s Auxiliary Services.
AND WE do further ordain and appoint that sub-paragraph (c) of the Ninth Clause, and
the Thirteenth Clause of the Warrant dated 5th February, 1931, shall be amended by the
insertion after ‘Secretaries of State’ of the words ‘or, in the case of any of Our Dominions, the
