Exploring Poland

Bordering the Baltic Sea, Poland is one of the largest
countries of Central Europe. Warsaw, its capital, is in
the centre of the country and is an ideal base for visit-
ing other cities, such as Cracow, the ancient royal
cap ital; Gdańsk, the Hanseatic city and Poznań, one
of the oldest Polish cities. Declared a World Heritage
Site in 1978, Cracow, with a host of historical monu-
ments, is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
