  This castle (Státní hrad a zámek
  Český Krumlov) is sec ond only
  to Prague Castle in terms of its
  size with a total of 300 rooms.
  The most breath tak ing are the
  Rožmberk Rooms, com pleted
  in 1576, with wooden vaults
  and Renaissance wall fres coes.
  The Hall of Masks, which is
  deco rated with some extra-
  ordinary trompe-l’oeil paint ings
  depict ing carnival scenes.
  A 17th-cen tury tiered bridge
  (Plášt’ovy most), complete with
  Krumlov Castle. It is linked
  to the Inner Town by a bridge
  over the Vltava river.
  All that remains today of the
  former village is a complex
  of late-Gothic and Baroque
  build ings, including the
  Minorite Monastery, the
  Convent of the Poor Clares
  and a church. The entire com-
  plex was linked with the
  castle by a covered walkway
  running over Latrán. Close by
  is the Renaissance Budějovice
  Gate, the only one left of the
  eight original town gates. It
  was built between 1598 and
  1602 by the Italian architect
  Dominik Cometta.

theatre has a well-preserved

interior, costumes and stage

machin ery. It was refurbished

in the 20th cen tury and offers

a glimpse of theatrical life in

the 18th century.
