The Order of the Poor Clares
settled in Trnava during the
Middle Ages. This church
(Nanebovzatia Panny Márie)
was built for the nuns in the
13th century as an aisleless
Romanesque structure.
Following a fire in the
17th-century it was extended
and remod elled in the
Baroque style. Original
features of the interior include
the early 18th-century high
altar and three side altars.
