The Bishop’s Residence, a triple-aisled
building dating from the 6th century, now
houses paintings by Antonio da Bassano,
Palma il Giovane and a polyptych by
Antonio Vivarini.
Interior
The entrance leads to
a large basilica with
a central nave and
two side aisles. The
18 Greek marble col-
umns have carved
capitals featuring
animals, some of
Byzantine origin and
others Romanesque.
All bear the monogram
of Euphrasius.
Atrium
The church
atrium is
composed of a
square portico
with two columns
on each side.
Medieval tombstones and
archaeological finds are
displayed here.
Baptistry
This octagonal building dates
from the 6th century. In the
centre is a baptismal font and
there are also fragments of
mosaics. To the rear is a 16th-
century bell tower.
