Main Contributors
Jonathan Bousfield was born in the UK and
has been travelling in Central and Eastern
Europe for as long as he can remember. A
student of East European history and lang-
uages, Jonathan has lived at various times in
Belgrade, Sofia, Zagreb, Rīga, Vilnius and
Cracow. His first travel-writing job involved
researching a guide to the former Yugoslavia
in 1989. Since then he has authored the
Dorling Kindersley Eyewitness Travel Guide
to Bulgaria, Rough Guides to Croatia and
the Baltic States, and co-authored the Rough
Guides to Austria, Poland and Bulgaria. He
has also been a magazine editor, feature
writer and rock critic.

Matt Willis first encountered Central and
Eastern Europe during an overland trip to
Iran from his home town of Malvern, UK,
in 1996. Since then, he has returned
repeatedly to explore the region and has
worked there both as a journalist and travel
guide writer. He is the author of Dorling
Kindersley Top 10 Travel Guide to Moscow
and co-author of Dorling Kindersley
Eyewitness Travel Guide to Bulgaria.
