With a splendid Renaissance Schloss overlooking the Danube and a
compact, beautiful old town, this historic Residenzstadt, or feudal
seat, has architectural glories that outstrip its modest present-day
status. From 1505, it was the capital of the independent princi pa lity of
Pfalz-Neuburg for 300 years. Be sure to sample the Schrobenhausen

the foot of the Obere Altstadt (upper
town), and ascend the broad stone

the main portal of Schloss Neuburg
