GALLERY GUIDE

The Groeninge Museum is split between two buildings.

The main portion of the museum is primarily on

one level with a series of rooms displaying the early

Flemish masters as well as works from the 17th to

20th centuries, spanning a wide range of styles. On

the other side of the approach road is the two-storied

Arentshuis (see p112), which provides additional

display space on the ground floor for temporary or

visiting exhibitions, and houses a permanent

collection of work by the artist Frank Brangwyn on

its first floor. Works are subject to relocation.

of his paintings

domestic scenes.

Jan van Eyck’s richly detailed work is noted for
its precision. It shows St George present ing van
Eyck’s patron, the canon, to St Donatian.
