The largest Gothic cathedral in
Belgium, this building occupies a
1-ha (2.5-acre) site in Antwerp’s
centre. Work began on the church
in 1352 and after two centuries the
second spire was left incomplete.

Groenplaats
The Groenplaats or
Green Square is a pleas-
ant open space with trees
and a statue of Rubens.
Lined with cafés and
bars, the square is a
popular spot with both
locals and visitors for a
relaxed stroll or drink.
