Sussexes, top, might want to live in Malibu
PRINCE Harry has kept his options open
on returning to live in Britain after
deciding not to apply for a green card or
US citizenship, it was claimed yesterday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have
moved to California from their previous
base on Vancouver Island in Canada but
their future plans have been put on hold
because of the coronavirus crisis.
It is understood Harry, 35, has no plans
for the foreseeable future to apply for a
green card or American citizenship.
His marriage to Los Angeles-born
Meghan, 38, would in theory smooth his
path to permanent residence.
But a royal source was quoted by The
Sunday Times yesterday as saying: “The
Duke has not made an application for
dual citizenship and I don’t think he will
apply for a green card at any point.” The
Sussexes’ main office is now run from LA
and Harry and Meghan’s remaining
spokesman in London could not confirm
or deny the story.
The couple are understood to be rent-
ing a house in California and thought to
be eyeing a home in beachfront million-
aires’ playground Malibu for them and
son Archie, one next month.
Harry’s current immigration status is
not clear.
He may have entered the US under a
90-day visa waiver programme available
to most Britons. Tourist visas prohibit
visitors from working.
It is also possible he could have
entered the country on a diplomatic or
some other special form of visa. His net
worth, put at £30million by some, might
also qualify him for visas available to
entrepreneurs willing to invest in the US.
An O-1 American visa exists for “indi-
viduals with extraordinary ability
or achievement”.
Harry and Meghan’s new arrangement
after they quit their senior roles as work-
ing members of the Royal Family will be
reviewed by The Firm after 12 months.
They have committed to follow the
Government’s Nolan Principles on
behaviour in public life and to do
nothing that will bring the Queen and
her family into disrepute.
But royal aides have refused to explain
how that will be policed as the
Sussexes discuss commercial deals
with companies.

Stunned... swtich to Tasers has been described as ‘crazy’
ROYAL protection officers
for junior royals have had
their guns replaced with
Tasers in a move described
as “nonsensical”.
It is believed that Harry
and Meghan’s security
details will also carry stun
guns when they visit the UK
from Los Angeles, where
they live with their baby
son Archie.
Armed cover for the
Queen’s children Anne and
brothers Andrew – who has
withdrawn from public life
because of the Jeffrey
Epstein scandal – and
Edward was replaced in the
past three weeks.
Met Police protection
officers guarding the Queen,
Prince Philip, Prince Charles
and the Duke and Duchess
of Cambridge and their
children, will continue to
carry Glock pistols.
The “drastic” changes
were believed to be part of a
wide-ranging reduction of
armed protection for less
senior royals, politicians
and diplomats. One source
said: “It has caused a lot of
angst among firearms
officers who until now have
been trained to take a bullet
if need be.”
Another added: “What are
they supposed to do if it
kicks off? Not intervene if
someone is in danger but
just shout advice at them?
It’s crazy.” And John
O’Connor, former flying
squad commander at the
Met, said: “Replacing
firearms with Tasers is
nonsensical. The stun guns
are hopeless over any kind
of range.”
A Buckingham Palace
spokesman said: “We never
comment on security.”
