I counted 26 twists and 19 turns,

for what promises to be a
dramatic ending.
Joanne Froggatt’s Laura, who
stands accused of rapist Andrew
Earlham’s murder, has made the
best possible use of being out on
bail, by pinching the mobile phone

As for the menu, I’m assuming
what we have here is identical

I’m talking about a hero of the

RIEFING the contestants
before tonight’s
opening challenge on
MASTERCHEF (BBC1,

Wallace sounds like
a teacher on a school trip,
addressing a bunch of lairy kids
before they pile on to the coach.
“Please understand the
occasion,” he tells them.
“Do NOT let us down.”
To be fair to him, he does have
a point. About the occasion being
big, that is. Not so much because
it’s the semi-final, although it’s that
as well, but because these nine

PICKS OF THE DAY

Nature: Dynasties, BBC4, 8pm

We know that the five episodes of this
series were on prime-time television
two years ago but in these most
unusual of times, a few repeats do not
seem like the worst idea – particularly
when the footage is a remarkable as
this. David Attenborough narrates as
we delve into the life of a tiger in the
dense jungles of India’s Bandhavgarh
Reserve. The big cat has four
newborn cubs to protect and is the
dominant presence in a prime hunting
territory. However, rival tigers are
determined to take over, and one
of her own previous offspring
becomes one of the most persistent
enemies to face the mother and her
young family. This is truly breathtaking
to watch, even second time around.

Soap: EastEnders, BBC1, 8pm

The look says it all. Ian (Adam Woodyatt, above)
knows things are about to go wrong. Early on in
tonight’s episode, he actually takes great pleasure
in kicking Dotty out – but he may regret his actions
when she realises what he has done and plans her
next move. A drunken Billy helps Linda and Mick put
their problems into perspective, while Chantelle
throws herself into work with the Panesars.

Film: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Film4, 9pm
This is a superb film. Obviously this preview needs to
be more than five words long but all that needs to be
said has been said in that opening sentence. The fifth
instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise is
arguably the best, with Tom Cruise (above) in superb
form as Ethan Hunt. This time, he is on the run from
the CIA as he tries to prove the existence of a terrorist
consortium. Simon Pegg co-stars.

Documentary: Inside The
Force: 24/7, Channel 5, 9pm
PCs Jess (right) and
Simon are involved in
urgent manhunts across
the city of Lincoln as the
cameras roll on this
fascinating documentary
show this evening. With
a suspect wanted for
sexual assault as well as
stalking, the police are
determined to find him
fast, for fear he might
strike again before too
long. A dangerous man
who is wanted back in
prison goes on the run,
so the police set out on
a search across the city

  • resulting in an arrest
    with Tasers drawn.

Quiz: Mastermind, BBC2,
8pm
One seat remains in the
Mastermind final and that
will be filled by the time
we get to 8.30pm tonight
as the fourth and final
semi-final takes place.
On the cards to be read
by John Humphrys (left)
in the opening round are
questions on the Apollo
space programme, the
Pitch Perfect films, the
Appalachian trail and
Talking Heads. The four
contestants will also face
the trivia jungle that is the
general knowledge
section. Who will best
handle the pressure of
the famous black chair?
