LOCKDOWN MADNESS
peak arrives. I would say in the
next seven to 10 days.
“The critical thing first is to get
case numbers down, and then I’m
hopeful that in a few weeks’ time
we will be able to move to a regime
which will not be normal life – let
me emphasise that – but will be
somewhat more relaxed in terms of
social distancing and the economy,
but relying more on testing.
“We want to move to a situation
where, at least by the end of May,
we’re able to substitute some less
intensive measures, more based on
technology and testing, for the
complete lockdown we have now.”
He predicted that UK deaths
from Covid-19 would rise to
between about 7,000 and 20,000.
PRIME Minister Boris Johnson
has been admitted to hospital for
tests, ten days after being diag-
nosed with coronavirus.
His spokeswoman said last night:
“On the advice of his doctor, the
Prime Minister has tonight been
admitted to hospital for tests.
“This is a precautionary step, as
he continues to have persistent
symptoms of coronavirus ten days
after testing positive for the virus.”
On Friday Mr Johnson said he
was still suffering from a high
temperature.
AFTER months of gloomy
weather, Britons will have to
enjoy the current heatwave
from indoors as the mercury
is expected to keep rising.
Britain will bake this week
with temperatures expected
to peak at 25C (77F) by
Wednesday because of a
scorching Saharan heatwave.
Met Office meteorologist
Helen Roberts said: “After a
slight dip in temperatures on
Monday, they’ll start to climb
again by the middle part of
the week – possibly even
higher than on Sunday.”
And forecasters predicted
this summer could be one of
the warmest on record, with
yesterday’s temperatures
peaking at 22C. Predicted
temperatures are well above
the 12C April average.
The Met Office predicted
pollen levels would peak
today, with areas like Kent
and London worst hit.
From tomorrow, Britain
can expect mostly dry and
sunny weather, the Met
Office said.

Self-isolate! You will obey!
IF PEOPLE ignore the human
calls to stay inside during the
Covid-19 outbreak, then
maybe they will listen to a
Dalek instead.
That was the hope of one
enemy from the Doctor Who
series, which was let loose on
the streets of Robin Hood’s
Bay, North Yorkshire, as it
urged residents to “keep
indoors”.
The Dalek, seen on social
media site Twitter, ordered:
“All humans must stay
indoors. All humans will
self-isolate. By order of
the Daleks.”

Outrage
as selfish
ignore
warnings
MILLIONS of Brits confined
themselves to their
gardens or stayed indoors
as the country yesterday
basked in its warmest day
of the year.
But despite the
overwhelming majority
adhering to the
Government strict social-
distancing rules, a small
number of selfish
individuals continued to
sunbathe in parks and
drink in the street.
Their actions mean the
current one-hour-a-day
outdoor exercise allowance
could be in jeopardy.
Incredibly, despite the
nationwide crackdown,
some were seen swigging
beers outside their home
while others stopped off in
parks to lie down and catch
some rays.
They refused to adhere
to demands after Health
Secretary Matt Hancock
warned that a total ban on
outdoor exercise could
come into force if people
continue to ignore
measures to only venture
out for essential reasons.
Police were yesterday
seen speaking to groups of
people flouting social
distancing measures on
Primrose Hill in London.
Sunbathers in Clapham
and Tooting in south
London were also seen
getting a warning from
officers.
Yesterday plenty of
people still ventured to the
capital’s Regent’s Park and
Greenwich Park.
A group of men in Hull
were seen ignoring the
two-metre social
distancing regulations as
they downed beer from
table outside.
A couple will appear in
court after Sussex Police
were forced to pour a

their barbecue on Hove
beach on Saturday. The
31-year-old man and
48-year-old woman, both
from Hove, are to be
summoned for breaching
Schedule 21 of the
Coronavirus Act 2020.
