You can have the greatest food in the world and the most delicious
coffee, but if you provide a slow service then you will simply annoy
the customer and they will visit elsewhere. After you have
observed how other places operate then you need to sit and study
your own service over a couple of days and analyse the differences.
Then use the lessons you have learnt to speed up your own
operation. This is even more critical in the To-Go part of an
operation.
Society is used to instant gratification these days and you need to
be aware of that. Too fat? Don’t bother with the gym just get it
sucked out! Can’t afford to buy that new sofa? Don’t worry, our new
credit card can mean you will have it today! Hungry? We’ll serve
you a burger in two minutes and you won’t even have to get out of
your car! Dominos pizza created a huge and highly successful
business, not by producing great pizzas, but simply by
guaranteeing to get it to you quickly while it was still hot.
What this means is that
your customer’s attitude
towards waiting is poor –
they won’t want to do it.
So make it as easy and as
quick as possible to sell them as much as possible. Time is not
money. Time is everything.
