SOULS
O
ne thing folks can’t get enough of with
Dark Souls is lore, but the actual best
thing is how little exposition there is. In
every shift in environment, in every new
enemy encounter, there is a story
unfolding if you can just piece together the details.
Each detailed helmet, every scrap of leather and flowing
cloak is woven into the world in such a way that they all
have a lineage through its setting. Outfits like the bone
carved armour of the Dark Set aren’t subtle in presenting
a humanity-stealing faction, and the classical Greek and
Roman styling of the Faraam Set lay down a connection to
a nameless god for anybody willing to join the dots.
Hand all this to the players? That selection of armour
you’ve cobbled together means something. Whether by
accident or design, when you enter another player’s world
in Dark Souls your look carries meaning.
You create a personality and character, through
nothing but a choice of attire. Fashion Souls is no joke and
I want to take you through a few of my creations and
what they might say to onlookers...
