from Assassin’s Creed had

to be radically different. And

at the time the American-

Revolution-set Assassin’s Creed III was

just that. The frontier that connected

the cities was huge, the parkour

smoother than ever, and for its time it

looked gorgeous.

Ambitious as it may have been, it

ended up being a bit of a curate’s egg.

Slow pacing, clunky action, and the

sense that it walked back previous

games’ improvements let it down, but

it had a lot to love nonetheless, and it’s

much easier to see its good points

when you go back to it now. It helps

that this Assassin’s Creed III remaster

isn’t just a straightforward port, but

onethatimprovesthe

player experience.

The graphical step-up

is massive. Rendering

and lighting effects have

been completely redone.

Additional mechanics

with a stealth focus have

been added – such as

double assassinations,

whistling, and more

hiding in foliage. UI

tweaksandcostumes

referencing later games

in the series (play as

Bayek) round off an

excellent remaster.

its own, but it’s also part

of the Assassin’s Creed:
