ou don’t have to make a large,
impressive quilt to give your
home a splash of hexagon
action – these sweet shapes look great,
are quick to do and fabulously thrifty!
Low-cost plain white bed linen can be
completely transformed with a simple
row of geometric shapes along one
edge, as shown here. Choose patterns,
designs and colours to suit your
bedroom theme.
This pretty pillowcase and sheet
project is a taster from Stash Happy
Patchwork, by Cynthia Shaffer. Try
adding patchwork shapes to
lampshades or shower curtains, throw
pillows, or the bottom edge of kitchen
bistro curtains for a refreshing pop of
colour throughout your home.


YOU WILL NEED
Materials
Q Basic quilting kit, see page 16
Q Assorted fabrics: ²⁄³yd (60cm)
Q 1 pillowcase and flat sheet
Q Card and plain paper
Q Water-soluble ink pen
Q Templates on page 100

CUTTING THE FABRIC
Step 1 Cut out template A on page 82
from scrap card.

Step 2 U s i n g te m p l a te B o n p a g e 8 2
and plain paper, cut approximately
26 paper templates (or however many
you need to cover the width of your
sheet or pillow).

Step 3 With a water-soluble ink pen,
trace the card template A on your
assorted fabrics 26 (or your chosen
amount) times. Cut out the hexagons.
Place the template strategically on
fabrics with large patterns so that you
can fussy cut to capture specific parts
of the pattern and avoid being left
with odd cut-offs.^1
