Bird motifs
Stitcher’s guide
Our bird motifs are
stitched onto 14-count
white aida and contain
whole cross stitch,
fractionals, backstitch
and French knots. They
take between one and
eight hours each to
complete, so stitchers
of all abilities will be
able to find the perfect
project among this
chirpy collection.
Look to your garden for stitching
inspiration and turn the birds you see
into lovely little presents!

1
Find the centre of your
fabric by folding it in half
horizontally and vertically. Find
the centre of the chart and start
stitching here, in the centre of
the fabric, working outwards.
2
Work all of the cross stitch
first, using two strands of
cotton. Where you see a tiny
symbol on the chart, work a
fractional stitch in its place.
3
Add the backstitch next,
using one strand of cotton.
Then, work the French knots
using one strand of cotton.
4
When you have completed
all the stitching, then
carefully check over your
finished work and prepare it for
making into beautiful gifts.
