(^14) TurnthewaistbandRSout,

(^15) Slip the waistband over the
skirt waist, positioning the folded
long edge on the outside of
the skirt, and aligning the raw
edge of the waistband with the
raw edge of the skirt waist. The
waistband and skirt should be
RS together. Pin and sew along
thetopedge.
(^16) Press the seam into the
waistband, then fold the
waistband to the WS of the skirt.
With the skirt RS up, topstitch
0.25cm (^1 / 8 ") up from the seam,
making sure to catch the folded
edge of the waistband on the
insideoftheskirt.
(^17) Place the skirt RS up. Using
a fabric marker, mark horizontal
buttonholes along the right-
hand button band – left-hand as
you look at it – roughly 7.5cm
(3") apart, starting from the
waistband. The buttonholes
should start 1.5cm (^5 / 8 ") in from
the long edge. Following the
instructions with the sewing
machine, make the buttonholes
usingthebuttonholefoot.
(^18) Place the skirt RS up again
and overlap the button bands,
positioning the buttonhole
side on top. Mark the fabric
underneath at centre of each
buttonhole, then sew the buttons
in place where marked to finish.
