Orange blossom is always one of

summer’s prettiest notes, an ideal

companion for your floatiest white

frock. This year, it shows up in

huge, glorious drifts – sweet

and honeyed, but with what

Kilian’s creative director Kilian

Hennessy calls a ‘narcotic

element’. His new summer scent,

created with perfumer Alberto

Morillas, has not just orange

blossom but oils distilled from the

leaves, peel and branches of the

bitter orange tree; it’s soft as

sherbet and dizzyingly beautiful

(side note: originally from Seville,

if anyone knows how to handle

an orange tree, it’s Morillas).

The fat petals of the magnolia tree

• sweet, lemony and floral – are
  just as intoxicating, says Maya
  Njie. ‘Once the magnolia trees
  flower, we know the warmer
  months are on their way,’ she says.
  In her dewy and delicate Les
  Fleurs, creamy magnolia bridges
  the gap between tangy bergamot
  and milky green fig. Perfumes
  to go head over heels for.
