During my pregnancy, I developed

pigmentation marks on my forehead.

If it’s sunny and I’m outside, I’ll stay in

the shade from noon to 4pm and wear

a large straw hat, but the rest of the time I’ll

layer up with SPF. I used to go on sunbeds

when I was younger as I was desperate to

achieve a perfect, deep tan, but now I’m

older, I appreciate my natural skin tone.

I don’t wear SPF every day, only when

I’m in the sun. Then I’ll also massage in

a milky cleanser, such as Sisley Lyslait

Make-up Remover with White Lily, for three

minutes, and rinse several times to make

sure I’ve removed it thoroughly, as I worry

the sunscreen filters will clog my pores.

When I’m on vacation, I use Le Paradis

Tahiti Body Balm. Its blend of Monoi oil,

vanilla and coconut is made for balmy,

golden evenings. If I’m travelling for

work or at home and need a boost, I use

it as a treat, as its smell takes me back

to sunshine and happy memories.

My summer wardrobe is simple but chic.

It consists of a silk vest top from Refine,

which I’ll pair with gold jewellery from

Azlee and jeans from Agolde. When it

comes to beachwear, I’m not ready to swap

my two-piece for a swimsuit just yet. I like

classic (but not sexy!) bikinis, and I always

find something I like from Yasmine Eslami.

Since I had my baby, Ines, my beauty

routine is shorter. Any time I do have alone,

I practise what I call my mindful ‘cherie-me’

moments. I put on clothes

that I love or light my

favourite candle and use

the time to remind myself

that I don’t need fixing, but

celebrating. I give myself the

freedom to just be myself.

My off-duty beauty look is natural curls,

bare skin and red lipstick. I’ll condition my

hair overnight with coconut or almond oil

and braid it, so when I take the plaits out

I have a lovely, loose-tousled wave. I’ll buff

with my finger so it looks more nonchalant.

Foundation should be applied organically.

I don’t agree with covering

everything up with product;

you need to let some of

your natural skin tone show.

I buff foundation from the

edges of my face and work

in towards my nose, where

I blend in a tiny amount

of product. This gives the

illusion that I’m not wearing much make-up.

I was never a fan of bronzer until Ines

came along! When I look drained, I roughly

buff it over my cheeks, nose and forehead.

And it always has to be a matte formula –

skin isn’t supposed to look sparkly.

My mother would wear red lipstick when

she picked me up from school. She looked

fierce and the other girls would be in awe of

her. We have big lips in our family, so it wasn’t

a discreet look, and I love that about her.

I never follow beauty trends. What looks

good on a catwalk model won’t necessarily

suit me, and I’d rather base my look on

how I feel. I sometimes wear a glittery

eyeshadow to make myself feel cheerful.
