AsIhadtofitthesealovertheshaft,I

neededadriftwithaholethatwouldpush

thesealatthecorrectpositionandwould

notbeimpededbytheshaft.Asisoften

thecase,thenearperfecttoolforthejob

wasadeepreachsocket.Rather

annoyingly,Ihadn’tnoticedthatsome

bell-endhadhitmycasingaroundthisoil

seal,makingtheoilsealcavitysomewhat

lessthancircular.HadInoticedthis

beforeInailedtheboxbacktogether,I

couldhaverepairedtheunnecessary

damagewithouttoomuchdifficulty.With

theenginebackintheframe,waving

propanetorchesaboutisaskingfor

trouble,soIdecidedtohopeandpraythat

thesealwouldreshapeitselftothestrange

contourofitsnewhomeandallwillbe
