AirPods will now automatically switch between
active devices - whether an iPhone, iPad,
iMac, or Apple Watch - and HomeKit Secure
Video cameras now offer Face Recognition
and Activity Zones, all accessible within the
Home app. An Adaptive Lighting feature has
been added, changing the color temperature
of bulbs, and a redesigned Home app toolbar
allows you to see important accessories
at a glance.

There are some tweaks to Apple Music, too,
with the For You tab now replaced by Listen
Now, which offers the latest releases, artist
interviews, and new personalized playlists. The
app has also been given more power in search,
so users can now search for phrases such as sad
music or summertime sounds and find music
and content related to their mood.

Combined with an all-new macOS experience,
Apple will transition from Intel chips to
a custom silicon in the next two years. It
was an unusual move, in that the company
confirmed it still had Intel-based Macs in the
pipeline for 2020, but also revealed that its
first ARM-Mac would ship before the end
of this year. By bringing even more of the
Mac experience in-house, Apple can build
software that makes the most of its hardware,
further unifying the experience as it did with
the iPhone. In the years to come, that means
great things - more advanced features and
capabilities, and new powerful Macs that allow
users to be more creative, more productive,
and more engaged. And until those new
Macs launch, enjoy macOS Big Sur when it
drops this fall.
