Bond and appliqué the shapes to the
white background squares using your
chosen method. (See pics A & B.)

When all blocks have been stitched
lay them out in a three-by-three grid.

Stitch a 1x8½" pink strip in between
each block. Stitch a 1x8½" pink strip
to the end of each row. Press seams
away from the pink strips. (See Pic C.)

Stitch a 1x26½" pink strip in between
each horizontal row and to the top
and bottom ensuring that the vertical
strips line up. Press seams away from the
pink strips. (See pics D & E.)

Make a quilt sandwich using the
backing, wadding and cushion top.

Quilt diagonal lines across the cushion
with the light yellow thread through
the fabric, wadding and backing at 2"
intervals across the cushion top. Trim
away any excess backing and wadding in
line with the cushion top. (See Pic F.)

FINISHING

To stitch the cushion back, take the
two 13¾x26½" pink rectangles and,
on one long edge of each, press under
by ½".

With right sides together open
the pressed seams and stitch 4½"
along the seam line from each end. The
remaining unstitched seam will be used
for inserting the zip.

To insert the zip, place the zip face
down on the wrong side of the
fabric, lining the centre of the zip with
the centre of the seam. I used a fabric
