There’s so many games coming
out on Switch each month, it’s
impossible to keep on top of
them all. Here are some that
stood out this month.Fans of puzzle games should check out
The Gardens Between. You shift the
two characters forward and backwards
through time, manipulating the world in
order to shift a power source to the end
of the level. There’s obstacles in the way,
of course, and with the nice clean visual
style, there’s plenty to like.Finally we have Screencheat, a unique
Aussie made first-person shooter. Up to four
people play at once, but the weird thing is you
cannot see enemy players. Instead you have
to look at their screen to work out where they
are, then fire into that position. Such a weird
idea, but so funny when played with friends.For those on the hunt for a relatively easy,
action-platformer there is Omega Strike.
Running and gunning through this retro
world isn’t that challenging, but unlocking
new characters and working out how to open
and explore new areas is light-hearted fun.Arcade racer
Horizon Chase
Turbo feels a
lot like the old
Outrun or Crusin’
USA arcade
games. There’s
a nice unlock
tree as you get
new vehicles
and access to more cities, and the
racing feels really fast even if it is a bit
simplistic. The ability to play four-player
splitscreen makes it a winner!If you’re into Professor Layton, you might
enjoy the point-and-click adventure game
Nairi: Tower of Shirin. The story takes
a little bit to get going, but ends up being
quite interesting. Expect to do a lot of
reading, then looking for objects in the
world and working out how to combine
them to solve puzzles.For something
a little different,
The First Tree
puts you into
the furs of a fox
searching for
its lost cubs.
This is about
exploration, with
a lot of running
as you move
through the world and unfold the story.
There are 150 stars to locate, but there
isn’t any combat: it’s just about discovery
(and having four legs).
