CLASSIC FIGHTING SERIES GROWS UP, A BIT
Dead Or Alive 6
ecmo’s classic fighter
returns, and this time
it’s got dressed. Team
Ninja are toning down
some of the more overt
sexuality of the female fighters this
time. But while there’s a little less
flesh on display, this new puritanism
should help the game gain the
recognition it deserves as a great
fighting game. We’re big fans ofDead
Or Alive 5: Last Round, which was the
series’ first outing on Xbox One and
still plays really well.
While the ladies are still, um,
prominent, let’s not forget that among
Dead Or Alive’s many male characters
is Ryu Hyabusa from theNinja Gaiden
series, so it’s got more pedigree than
you may have realised – after all,Dead
T
Or Alive 3 was an Xbox-exclusive
launch title way back when.
Dead Or Alive 6 (it’s actually the 19th
game in the franchise) promises to be
the most visually stunning yet, with 20
characters so far confirmed including
series favourites like Ryu, Christie,
Kasumi, Bayman, Bass and Tina – with
new luchador-style street fighter
Diego a cool addition to the roster.
The core mechanic is based on a
hugely effective rock-paper-scissors
‘triangle’ – so strikes beat throws,
throws beat holds, holds beat strikes.
Simple, but brilliant, and with a new
Break Gauge system you can counter
moves, and it should be a cinch to put
together some impressive and fluid
combos in the game’s many arenas
when it lands this month! Q

announced its exclusive franchise
wasready to go –now!
Crackdown 3hits this month, with
Terry Crews back as Commander Jaxon
for its single player campaign, plus
the addition of a technologically
marvellous multiplayer mode called
Wrecking Zone, which takes advantage
of Microsoft’s Azure Cloud tech which
will mean your multiplayer experience
will be seamless no matter the
strength of your internet connection.
This tech basically handles all of the
advanced physics required for the
hugely impressive destructability. It’s a
thing of beauty, trust us – and really
just the first application of this cloud
tech. Crackdown 3 doesn’t just
promise to be good, it’s going to show
us the future of Xbox gaming, on this
generation of console and the next! Q
