MOONLIGHTER
DEV DIGITAL SUN RELEASE MAY 2018
Sometimes a game comes along that
makes you wonder why someone
didn’t come up with the idea sooner.
That’s exactly what Moonlighter did.
It’s an action RPG but instead of just
heading out on a standard adventure
you own an item shop. During the day
you sell your wares to the locals and
during the night you pop off on a quest
to restock your shelves. Defeating
enemies and bosses will reward you
with exotic items that you can then
sell at your shop. A very different take
on such a well-known genre. Making
OXM basically became the team’s
second job while we were playing this!

ROCKET LEAGUE
DEV PSYONIX RELEASE FEBRUARY 2016
It was a genius idea to combine the
competitive nature of football and the high
octane thrill of a racing game to create
Rocket League. Going against the game’s
AI or against other players online, your aim
is to navigate an oversized ball around a
large arena and shoot it into the back of
the opposing team’s goal. At first you may
struggle but before long you’ll be launching
yourself through the air while pulling off a
somersault to clinch the game and blast
that ball into the goal. It’s an absolutely
thrilling ride.
FIREWATCH
DEV CAMPO SANTO RELEASE SEPTEMBER 2016
This title did a lot for indie games and let
people know that you don’t need a triple-A
budget to create a compelling story. Within
the first few moments of playing the game,
when you discover that the protagonist’s
wife is suffering from early-onset dementia,
you’re emotionally hooked. Seeking solace,
he becomes a fire lookout where he
discovers not only an unlikely friendship in a
fellow lookout, but solves the mystery that
began with the disappearance of a young
boy who went missing in the wilderness
some years prior. It’s visually stunning too.
This title was one of the early launches on
ID@Xbox and is still one of the scariest games
around. It’s a terrifying first-person horror game
in which you play as investigative journalist
Miles Upshur who heads over to Mount Massive
Asylum after receiving a tip-off of strange
goings-on. You’re soon trapped inside the
asylum and you have to work your way through
the dilapidated corridors while on the run from
deranged maniacs trying to kill you. Armed with
only a camcorder, you have to run, hide and
hope you can make it out alive. A real thriller.

OF EDITH FINCH
DEV GIANT SPARROW RELEASE JULY 2017
In this first-person exploration game you
play as Edith, the last of the Finch family,
who, following the death of her mother,
returns to her eccentric family home in
search of answers. Through a series of
vignettes told in the form of flashbacks
you discover the truth behind the deaths
of your family members. Each account
is told in an interesting and unique way.
One has you taking on the form of a
cat, chasing a bird through the trees,
another sees you jumping into the pages
of a comic book and acting out the
sequences depicted in the panels.
