HI-FI STREAMING ADAPTERS

Take your classic wired hi-fi and add some digital convenience by

plugging in these easy add-ons

1 iFi Nano iOne
£279, https://ifi-audio.com/

This card-packet-sized DAC is Bluetooth-only (no Wi-Fi), weighs
just 141g and comes with a USB input, it’s also excellent at
boosting your laptop’s sound. Streaming via Bluetooth (AAC/
aptX) and plugged into the spare phono socket on your amp, the
iFi Nano iOne makes the most of even poor MP3s, and while
you’ll never discover unheard detail in your favourite tracks, you
will enjoy listening to it. In fact, we’re betting you’ll be excited
and entertained by the dynamic upgrade provided, which sounds
impressively grown-up.

2 Yamaha WX AD-10
£119, https://uk.yamaha.com/

This unassuming box absolutely packs in the features. Not only do
you get streaming support for Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz and more,
you can also play to it using Yamaha’s MusicCast multi-room
system, Apple AirPlay or Bluetooth. Connect it to your system via
3.5mm or phono and you’re away, with a great-sounding DAC
that supports hi-res files up to 24-bit/192kHz. There’s no DSD or
MQA support, though. It’s easy to set up over Wi-Fi, or you can
use Ethernet instead. The balance of sound quality, features and
price is ideal.

Winner!
