up at home. Maybe I would have. I had the
time to think to myself: “You are going home
to Groningen, what could you do for the club,
what would you find appealing for yourself?”
Then it was very clear to make a return
to the pitch.
You are going from playing with the likes
of Robert Lewandowski to working with
Groningen players. How will you handle
the change in quality?
We have to be honest and admit there is a
difference in quality between Bayern Munich
and Groningen, but I see that as a positive
challenge. What is important is that I’m doing
this because I think I will enjoy it but also to
help the club. There is one way for me to be
able to do that and that is by example. I hope
I can influence the youngsters, but I’m not one
who is going to be talking to them all the time.
