SEATTLE: AT&T
AT&T’s powerful 4G performance pushed it to the lead in Seattle. Even without
much of a contribution from a relatively slow 5G network, AT&T’s fast, reliable
4G performance in our 12 tests around the metro area outpaced both Verizon’s
4G and T-Mobile’s 4G/5G.

Reliability plays a strong role in how AT&T hit its lead here, with noticeably

on the other two carriers. In terms of fast results, both AT&T and Verizon
acquitted themselves well, with speeds over 200Mbps scattered around the
metro area, especially on the north side from Green Lake to Northgate, and in
West Seattle.

I’m surprised that T-Mobile didn’t do better in its home city. It didn’t do all that
badly, and its 5G tests were 50 percent faster than its 4G tests at the same
locations. But AT&T’s 4G did so well that it blew T-Mobile out. Looking at the
results nationwide, I’m concerned that all of the new Sprint users may be
congesting the T-Mobile 4G network.
