Classic Broomstick Lace
Classic broomstick lace highlights the strands of yarn encased in
rows of single crochet.
Ch a multiple of 4 sts plus 1.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hk and ea ch across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in ea sc across, turn.
Row 3: Pull up lp in ea sc across, moving lps to broomstick holder,
ch 1 in last lp to lock st, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, working from right to left, insert hook in first 4 loops
at once, 4 sc in group; rep from in groups of 4 lps across, turn.
Row 5: Rep row 2.
Rep rows 2–5 to desired length.

Broomstick Lace Flower

Rnd 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hk and ea
ch across, sl st to 1st sc, do not turn—
24 sc.
Rnd 2: Pull up lp in blp and flp of each
sc around, remove all but last loop from
hook, sl st back to foundation ch, turn work
180 degrees—48 loops.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in next ch, sc2tog over
next 2 ch; rep from around, sl st to 1st sc,
do not turn—16 sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, (sc2tog over next 2 sc) across, do not turn—8 sc.
Rnd 5: Rep rnd 4, fasten off, weave tail through center of motif—4 sc.
