Budding Hexagon
Turning the classic granny blossom square into a
hexagon is not only pleasing to the eye but seems
classic and fresh all at the same time.
Make an adjustable ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, 12 sc in ring, sl st to 1st sc,
pull ring closed, do not turn—12 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc-cl in 1st sc, *ch 5, 3 dc-cl in
next sc, ch 2, 3 dc-cl in next sc; rep from * around
to last sc, ch 5, 3 dc-cl in last sc, hdc in top of 2
dc-cl, do not turn—12 dc-cl.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc around post of hdc,
ch 1, *[3 dc-cl, ch 3, 3 dc-cl] in next ch-5 sp, ch
1, 3 dc in ch-3 sp, ch 1; rep from * around to last
ch-5 sp, [3 dc-cl, ch 3, 3 dc-cl] in last ch-5 sp, ch
1, dc around post of hdc, sl st to top of t-ch, do
not turn—18 dc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *dc in each dc and
ch-1 sp across, ch 1, [3 dc-cl, ch 3, 3 dc-cl] in
next ch-3 sp, ch 1; rep from * around, dc in last
ch-1 sp, dc in last dc, sl st to top of t-ch, do not
turn—30 dc.
Rnd 5: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *dc in each dc and
ch-1 sp across, ch 1, [3 dc-cl, ch 3, 3 dc-cl] in
next ch-3 sp, ch 1; rep from * around, dc in last
ch-1 sp, dc in last 2 dc, sl st to top of t-ch, do not
turn—42 dc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, *sc in each dc and ch-1 sp across,
[2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in next ch-3 sp; rep from
* around, sc in last ch-1 sp, sc in last 3 dc, sl st
to 1st sc, fasten off—78 sc.
