SNOWFLAKE MOTIFS

TIP

Snowflake motifs do not have to be stiff-
ened to be enjoyed, but when they are, the
world opens up to what you can do with
them. You can add a hook and make a
quick ornament, or add beads and make a
quick necklace. The key to stiffening is not
in the solution you use, but in the pins.
Whether you use a fabric stiffener or a
cornstarch solution, be sure to dip your
motif fully in the mixture, pat it dry, and
then place it on wax or parchment paper.
Make sure to pin down each and every
picot and chain exactly where you want it
to go. They do take a while to pin and you
will go through a ton of pins, but the
results are so worth the effort.
