Maria Shell Edging
The picots the shells on this edging are reminiscent of
time gone by.
Picot: Ch 3, sl st to 1st ch.
Shell (sh): [(2 dc, picot) twice, dc, (picot, 2 dc) twice]
in st indicated.
The stitch pattern is a multiple of 7 plus 5 on the sides.
Join the yarn to the edge with a sl st, and ch 1.
Rnd 1 (RS): Sc across edge in a multiple of 7 plus 5, 3
sc in corner; rep from around, sl st to 1st sc, turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, 3 sc in corner sc, sc in ea sc
across to corner; rep from around, sl st to 1st sc,
turn.
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 4 sc, ch 4, sk 2
sc, dc in next 5 sc; rep from across to corner, ch 4, sk
2 sc, [dc, ch 4, dc] in corner sc; rep from * around, ch
2, hdc in top of t-ch, turn.
Rnd 4: Ch 4 (counts as tr), 2 tr in 1st ch-sp, ch 5, sk
corner ch-4 sp, [3 tr, ch 5, 3 tr] in next ch-4 sp and ea
ch-sp across to corner ch-sp; rep from around to 1st
ch-sp, 3 tr in 1st ch-sp, ch 5, sl st to top of t-ch, turn.
Rnd 5: Sl st in 1st ch-5 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), [dc,
picot, 2 dc, picot, dc, (picot, 2 dc) twice] in same
ch-5 sp, sh in ea ch-5 sp around, sl st to top of t-ch,
fasten off.
