iOS GOES DARK


Or should that be, ‘iOS finally goes dark?!’
Whether this was the worst kept secret of
WWDC 2019, or perhaps the best educated
guess of Apple aficionados around the world
beforehand, it feels like we’ve been waiting for
Dark Mode to hit iOS for an awfully long time.
However, it’s actually only taken Apple one
year to give iOS users the same kind of visual
experience originally introduced in macOS
Mojave just last year.


Anyway, it’s finally here, and it looks just as
incredible as you’ve hoped for. All of your
favorite apps, from Mail to News, can now be
programmed to appear with dark backgrounds
and different colors on screen – something
third-party app developers will no doubt
be rushing to support as soon as possible.
Dark Mode can be enabled at any time via
the Settings app, in the Display & Brightness
section or Control Center.


A long press of the Brightness Indicator
will allow you to toggle Dark Mode on or
off, or schedule it based on the time of day.
Furthermore, right from launch, iOS 13 will
feature several new wallpapers specifically
designed to give you the ultimate visual
experience of the iPhone’s first Dark Mode
setting. With it also being possible to access
Safari under this setting, it will certainly be
interesting to see how website developers
around the world react to knowing so many
people may soon have a penchant for viewing
content in Dark Mode.
