Key Concepts

Rates and Functions (Lesson 1)

  • A function is a relationship that assigns exactly
one output value for each input value.

Slope (Lesson 2)

  • A rate of change is a rate that describes how one
quantity changes in relation to another. The slope
of a graph is the rate of change between any two
    points on a line.

Variation (Lesson 3)

Vocabulary Check

Choose the term from the list above that best
matches each phrase.

  1. the rate of change between any two points
    on a line

  2. the set of input values for a function

  3. a relationship when corresponding x and
y values have a constant product

  4. the constant ratio

  5. a relation in which each element of the
input is paired with exactly one element
of the output according to a specified rule

  6. the set of output values for a function

  7. a table used to organize the input
    numbers, output numbers, and the
    function rule

  8. two variable quantities have a constant
    ratio

  9. the rate of change in a linear relationship

  10. the operation performed on the input of a
    function

  11. rate that describes how one quantity
    changes in relation to another

  12. graph of a straight line
