The remaining 40–50 questions (a majority of the test) are ordinary looking
multiple-choice questions such as the one below.
28. Which is the formula of a compound?
(A) HCl
(B) He
(C) Cu
(D) O 2
(E) Br 2
Here, the answer is A. A compound is a chemical combination of two or more
elements. (We’ll talk more about that later.) This type of question is straight-
forward: You read the question and choose the answer choice that best answers
the question.
