pants,” they need to figure out the answer to the

problem. Encourage children to work in pairs to

solve the problem. Then bring the class together

for another whole-class discussion. Ask:

• Who has the right answer? (Shorty Trunks)


• How did you figure it out? (Using Clue 1, cross

off 0, 1, 2, and 3. Using Clue 2, cross off 6 to 12.

That leaves 4 and 5. Clue 3 gets rid of 5. So B is 4.)
